Vascular Trauma Management (VTM) - Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta (REBOA)
Training of managing substantial bleeds and life-threatening vascular injuries in the area of the abdomen, pelvis or lower extremities, involving cross-functional divisions. The goal of training is to understand the complexity of the PTA technique in the pelvic area, diagnosis and treatment of the patient, based on the correct conclusions from running the angio system. Techniques include guiding a balloon catheter over the inguinal artery to block uncontrolled blood flow to the lower half of the body and stop blood loss until surgery; control of this intervention via the hemodynamic monitor; and operating the virtual angio system under fluoroscopy.
