Transarterial Chemoembolization (TACE)
Training for all steps of TACE in the treatment of liver tumors. Involves directing a probing catheter into the groin and up to the hepatic artery. The tumor and vessels are visualized via X-ray fluoroscopy. An additional catheter is then directed through the probing catheter to the embolization’s position, when a chemotherapeutic agent is injected. A liquid is then injected to reduce the flow rate in the tumor vessels and enhance the effect of the chemotherapeutic agent. The procedure is monitored via contrast medium.

The aim of training is to manage the complex TACE procedure time-efficiently, in order to optimize the exposure to X-ray.
