Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI/TAVR)
The CATHI Aortic Valve Implantation software is designed for specialists working on transcatheter aortic valve implantation/replacement (TAVI/TAVR). It can be used either for individual instruction or for a hospital team.

Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) is a procedure involving the insertion of a catheter into an artery in the upper leg or chest, then passing towards the aortic valve. The catheter is then used to guide and fix a replacement valve over the top of the old one.

Specifically, this will involve the deployment of balloon-/self-expanding valves, using CT imaging and echocardiography. Training will therefore include understanding femoral access limitations with large devices, the difference in deployment between balloon-expandable and self-expandable valves and positioning of the valve based on anatomy and valve type.

This module assumes familiarity with preoperative CT imaging, echocardiography, endovascular intervention and cardiac catheterization. The software facilitates the use of both balloon-expandable and self-expandable valve types, which allows a balanced comparison between the two, including the different deployment techniques.
