A CA is caused by a weak spot on an artery in the brain, which bulges out and fills with blood. This can be both extremely painful and a risk to life, as the bulge puts pressure on nerves or brain tissue. The artery can also haemorrhage. Surgical treatment is focussed on preventing blood flow and consists of attaching tiny metal clips or inserting a series of micro coils.

The CATHI CA Training Module provides a step-by-step guide to interventional management of aneurysms, from microcatheter insertion into the aneurysm to filling with coils. The full range of techniques used is covered. The stepwise set-up of the module allows optional skipping of any training section and focusing instead on more relevant training segments based on the trainee’s previous experience. Repetition of these segments can provide more effective training results.

A broad range of instruments are used, including various coiling forms and sizes, to meet any training need. With the CA module, the location and size of the aneurysms can be determined and predefined.
